Abstract

Based on an anonymous survey of 432 students from eight public schools, this study shows that inner-city teens are more likely to use MySpace and suburban teens are more likely to use IM; moreover, suburban teens are more likely than inner-city teens to be the early adopters of both MySpace and IM. This urban-suburban differential reveals another dimension of the so-called second digital divide.
