Abstract

A new tectonostratigraphic model is proposed for the evolution of the Zagrosides of Iran. The Zagros thrust line is considered to be a reactivated high-angle reverse fault. The suture between the Iranian and Arabian continents is inferred to be along the southwestern front of the Urmia-Dokhtar magmatic arc.
