Abstract

The tectonic evolution of the Pripyat Trough of the Russian Platform is discussed in detail with major emphasis on the structures and their dimensions rather than on the varying stratigraphy of the basin as a whole. Some 50 structures are named and delineated on a map. Included is a contour map of the top of the pre-Paleozoic basement, based on electric logs and seismic data. Another map shows the structural configuration on top of the Upper Devonian salt sequence which is over 3,000 m thick. The information is largely descriptive, but is nonetheless valuable because it denotes the scale and magnitude on which the studies have been carried out. B. N. Cooper
