Abstract

The article provides the data on interaction of sulfur and chlorine in the solution of monochloride sulfur. It shows that the reaction produces the monochloride sulfur with the yield of 95-98%. It was found, that the main reason that leads to the low productivity of the unit of the reaction volume has been the high heat effect of the reaction. It was suggested to set an extra coil in the fusion reacton of monochloride sulfur for cooling of the reaction mixture and conducting the chlorination at pressure of 1.2-1.5 atmospheres. The optimal conditions of the chlorination and the method of determining the quality of monochloride sulfur were detected. A quality check of monochloride sulfur in fusion reaction N, N'- dithiodimorpholine was carried out, and it showed that the quality of the obtained N, N'- dithiodimorpholine met specifications. We have analyzed standards of technological conditions of chlorination of sulfur and have proposed mitigation measures, such as the reduction of the chlorination time and separation of the finished product by installment of the overflow pipe. It allowed increase of productivity of a unit of fusion volume of reaction in 2,5-3,0 times at high quality of the obtained product
