Abstract

A technology was developed for obtaining refractory powder from extracted caustic magnesite dust. The method includes solution in water of the sulfates, hydration of magnesia, thickening and filtration of the slurry, mixing the cake with dry magnesite dust, briqueting the mixture, and firing the briquet. The technology eliminates contamination by sulfates of the surroundings and clogging of the surfaces of the pipes in waste heat boilers, and yields from the caustic dust a dense powder for making refractory magnesite products, and enables us to utilize sulfates.
