Abstract

Sport business and technology are intertwined. Nearly all products in the sport business industry are created, produced, facilitated, or manufactured with technology. A vast array of technologies has been used in the invention, creation, and development of all kinds of products that are sports, fitness, sport tourism, and recreation participation and activities, as well as goods such as sports equipment, apparel, and footwear. Moreover, the management service functions of sport business, such as governance, management, law, finance, and marketing, are all produced and/or enhanced by technologies. This chapter provides an overview of technology in the sport business industry with a particular focus on sport marketing. Technology is developing at a rapid pace and is influencing the marketing mix of sport. This chapter will focus on the latest technological developments and their integration with sport marketing.
