Abstract

Notable developments during 1989 are reviewed. They are the acceptance of the AT&T/Sun Microsystem's version of Unix as the standard version, the sluggish progress of IBM/Microsoft's OS/2 in the marketplace, the attempt by Microsoft and Apple Computer to replace the PostScript language in the Apple LaserWriter, and the persistence of viruses.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
