Abstract

Significant developments during 1991 are highlighted. Tests of proposed US HDTV transmission systems got underway. A trend toward TV cable systems with higher channel capacities is developing in the US. Digital compact cassette (DCC) and mini disc systems began competing with digital audio tape. Proposals for digital audio radio, which would use a data compression scheme similar to that in DCC and Mini Disc received greater attention.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
