Abstract
AbstractThe Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre is one of the two largest research establishments in Germany, employing more than 4200 persons. Over the past decade, the emphasis of the work carried out has increasingly shifted to embrace non-polluting high technologies. An overview of these research activities, which form the basis of the other contributions to this special issue, is presented under the groupings: environmental research; energy research; microsystems technology; and fundamental physical research.
