Abstract
Surface modification of textile goods is receiving increased attention. Such modification needs to retain the mechanical strength of the fibre core hut impart surface functionality for a wide range of conceivable uses. To illustrate the methods and strategies used for fibre surface functionalisation the work of the German Textile Research Institute North-West, Krefeld, is described together with some further attractive ways.
