Abstract
Currently, the aviation industry mainly uses kerosene as fuel, which releases a lot of carbon emissions. As the world population grows rapidly, the requirements for air transport are increasing, which promotes an environmentally friendly transformation of the aviation industry. This paper summarizes the advantages of using hydrogen as fuel and makes a comparison to other environment-friendly technologies. The history of hydrogen aircraft and several aircraft hydrogen propulsion and storage options are discussed. In addition, the challenge and future developments of hydrogen powered craft that the aviation industry is facing are also analyzed in this paper, hoping to raise people’s awareness of the use of hydrogen in aviation, and draw the future direction of the aviation industry.
