Abstract

Technological factors are studied for the vacuum carburizing of low-alloy steels. The features of vacuum carburizing cyclic modes caused by a changing carbon layer structure formed on the saturated surface as a result of the catalytic dissociation of acetylene molecules are considered. Different variants of the process are proposed. The advantages of vacuum carburizing, which provides an improvement in the operating properties of the treated parts in mechanical engineering, are stated.
