Abstract
This article reviews the concept of the marginal abatement cost (MAC) curve and discusses how it interacts with assumptions about technological change. The relevance of the MAC curve, how MAC curves are generated, how technological change can affect the MAC curve, and some of the possible pitfalls to keep in mind when using the MAC curve are also discussed.
