Abstract

The study offers a comparison of the eight-century Avar, ninth-century Pannonian Carolingian and the tenth–eleventh-century post-Conquest period bloomery furnaces and the iron blooms found in their proximity, which suggested that a local population with stable craft skills preserving the late Avar traditions can be assumed in the light of the technological continuity.
