Abstract
The authors review the advantages and disadvantages of using several alternative motor fuels, including petroleum-derived automotive gasolines, methanol, liquefied propane/butane gas, compressed and liquefied natural gas, and synthetic fuel. Two large tables data gathered on these fuels, and a chart shows prorated costs in production and use of alternate fuels as a function of prorated costs in production of raw material. The authors conclude that as the technology for alternate fuel production and for the manufacture of vehicles that use such fuels improve, the economy and energy indexes of fuel supply for the transport process will also improve.
