Abstract

It is not the intent of this chapter to be a treatise on basic preparation techniques for specimens except as certain of them apply, or are peculiar to, stainless steels. There are many books that cover all of the basic principles and general laboratory techniques of metallography; a representative sampling may be found in References 1 through 6.
