Abstract

ABSTRACTWhile much has been published to diagnose the disconnect between public and technical services, the need still exists for examination of possible solutions that have a broader impact than cross-training or committee formation. Two surveys were administered to public and technical services personnel at the University of Mississippi Libraries. A comparison of the surveys' results yielded unique insight for inter-departmental relations. The surveys accomplished several functions: to indicate satisfaction levels for technical services, to gauge perceptions of importance for services provided, to begin educating public services personnel regarding technical services work, and to serve as a tool for departmental strategic planning.
