Abstract

Abstract The effect of the recently proposed pattern of the total ozone trend over the middle latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere on the van Heuklon model is examined. The errors in the estimates of this model for the total ozone content are large. Also the errors in the Unsworth-Monteith atmospheric turbidity parameter associated with using the van Heuklon model are substantial and vary quite significantly according to the season.
