Technical note: Development of a model for study of in vivo bone strains in normal and microgravity environments

Abstract

Accurate bone strain measurements are essential to the understanding of the process of strain-regulated bone re- modeling. It has been suggested that this process optimizes the amount and structure of bone to its function as a load bearing support. Identification of strain magnitudes and the frequency of application required to control the bone remodeling process is critical for a better understanding of bone remodeling leading to bone loss in extended space flight. No
