Abstract

A ray tracing technique for refractive multipath on line of sight (LOS) microwave links is presented. This technique combines both analytical and computer approaches to simplify the analysis and reduce the computational time. It utilises the flattened-Earth transformation to account for the Earth's curvature. The associated modified refractivity profile is represented by a new and versatile smooth analytical expression. The results agree in order of magnitudes and tendencies with other computer models available in the literature which utilise more sophisticated approaches.
