Abstract

A case of renal cell carcinoma, clear cell type, with bone metastasis that took up Tc-99m DMSA in the presence of normal renal function is presented. The primary renal tumor, however, did not definitely show Tc-99m DMSA accumulation. The reason is probably that Tc-99m DMSA uptake by tumor cells is much less prominent than uptake by normal tubular cells. Our finding suggests that Tc-99m DMSA may have an affinity for some types of adenocarcinomas. The details of the tumor affinity mechanism of this agent still must be studied.
