Abstract

The report covers the investigations into the new methods of drilling holes in composite materials and especially thin components by using new types of drills invented and developed by Professor F Zawistowski. The results confirm expectations of the new drill based on the ‘internal cone’ principle. The axial force necessary for drilling is much smaller than any center point drill. The heating up of the material during the drilling is negligible due to the absence of the center point which has a poor cutting performance.
