Abstract

In this month9s TechSite, Chester and Parcher discuss the concept of Unified Chromatography. Unlike the equipment and methods used in gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography, which can limit the analysis of substances with their constraints of temperature and pressure, Unified Chromatography enables researchers to create a continuum from liquid to gas by manipulating the temperature and pressure to avoid the boiling region. This continuum, they believe, could increase the specificity and efficiency of separation techniques for gasses and liquids alike and spur the creation of instruments that maintain a mobile phase and analyze substances in various states.
