Abstract

In today's business environment, a lot of work is done in teams. Team coaching (TC) is a popular innovation in the learning and development toolbox of teams. Coaching of teams will rise in popularity and demand in the next decade (see 6th Ridler survey: 76% of organisations expected an increase in team coaching, Mann, 2015) and it has already plenty of practitioners, including team coaches, and teams who experienced the advantage from team coaching, and their organisational sponsors who have seen the transformative energy of TC first-hand. Nevertheless, there is still substantial discussion about such basic matters as the definition of TC, the competencies and qualifications of effective team coaches and how to train or teach future team coaches. This chapter examines these and other issues important to team coaches, researchers, users of TC service, and those who train team coaches. Also, I will reflect on the Team Academy approach as a model of team coaching within the field of education.
