Abstract

No other single factor is more important for the Museums than quality of management and (that) improving it must have a very high, perhaps the highest priority. It has struck us forcibly throughout that in order to meet the challenges and problems of the present day the Museums need to match their curatorial excellence with an equal excellence of general management; and to combine the two so that they reinforce and complement each other. 1 1 Rayner Scrutiny of the Departmental Museums, 1982, para. 54.
