Abstract

Vocabulary refers to the words that we require for effective communication. In a language classroom, teaching target vocabulary is as important as teaching other aspects/skills of a language. Research has shown that interactive activities which trigger peer engagement in classrooms can increase learners' knowledge of target vocabulary. This entry discusses the importance of developing learners' vocabulary through interactive strategies and their implications on pedagogical practices in a language classroom.
