Abstract

The teaching of the Arabic language in the light of the previous pedagogies was based on the branch system, where each activity was considered an end in itself. With the aim of facilitating her education, the textual approach was adopted in her education. The text was considered an effective means for studying the language, as it is the starting point and the end to it. What is the extent of efficacy and effectiveness of the textual approach in cognitive achievement and linguistic development of the learner? Does the textual approach achieve the objectives of the second generation curricula? In this paper, we will discuss the concept of the textual approach, its importance, its basis, the conditions for a good text, its steps, principles, and advantages. With meandering to mentioning its results and its impact on the cognitive achievement and linguistic development of the learner.
