Abstract

The research is of a quantitative nature applied in research teaching as a tool to encourage students in the early years of Elementary School to explore, develop strategies, raise hypotheses and conjectures, test, debate and apply mathematical ideas to problem situations. The aim is to reflect on pedagogical practices in teaching Statistics, based on the guidelines of the National Curricular Parameters and the National Common Curricular Base. As a theoretical reference, the research sought support from sociointeractionism, from the perspective of Vygotsky. A paradidactic book was created for the statistical teaching, which involves the student in investigative activities and directs the teacher with strategies that mediate the construction of statistical reasoning. The application of the educational product occurred through a didactic sequence, with 18 students in the 3rd year of Elementary School from a public school in the city of Gama/DF, Brazil.
