Abstract

Abstract A framework for developing strategies of primary prevention at clinical and programmatic levels is provided by an ecological perspective on problems in living. Students need to incorporate a preventive point of view in their work with individuals, families, and groups, and to acquire the skills for developing preventive policy and programming at the community and population levels. If these capacities are to emerge, there must be a systematic infusion of preventive content into all areas of the curriculum.
