Abstract
Purpose: Online learning has been part of the educational landscape for a long time, but it came to the forefront during the COVID-19 pandemic starting in 2020. As many courses moved online, faculty struggled to make their courses effective for students. Phonetics, with its focus on learning International Phonetic Alphabet transcription, was especially difficult to teach online. Fellow faculty members expressed difficulty communicating the content, offering transcription practice and feedback, engaging students, and applying the concepts clinically. Conclusion: This tutorial will address these issues and more with specific examples, websites, and explanations for faculty members to immediately implement in their (online) phonetics courses.
