Abstract

Lotteries are now prevalent throughout the world, and so are personal computers. The basic principles of probability and statistics that apply to the lotteries can now be computed by almost anyone with the proper formulas. Examples related to the lotteries are given to illustrate the Central Limit Theorem. An algorithm is presented for generating all combinations of n objects taken r at a time with examples from n C6. Insights into the development and improvement of the algorithm are given for the benefit of students of elementary computer science.
