Abstract

role of e-learning has recently been very frequently discussed in many up-to-date higher education development and innovation trends. In this manner, also the education processes of future healthcare professionals in the field of computer and information sciences require implementation of modern e-learning tools into face-to-face as well as online teaching activities using combination of various active learning methods. Only thus, the graduates' can be efficiently used to apply the skills they learned in daily clinical practice. paper presents the subject matter of the research project entitled The Multimedia Support of the Teaching Process of the Subject Informatics at the Faculty of Medicine of Pavol Jozef Safarik University in whose main aim is to develop an e-learning course increasing IT skills of students in medical and healthcare study fields at Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice, Faculty of Medicine. paper focuses on the structure of the e-learning course, its objectives, and the overall expected contribution. By creating online study materials with multimedia content, making them available in the anytime and anywhere manner, and enabling students to be actively involved in the learning process, we expect their better understanding of the IT importance in today’s health care related services.
