Abstract

This article discusses the development of the Self-Discovery Tapestry and suggests a variety of strategies for using the Tapestry in undergraduate and graduate gerontology courses. Provided are a shared basis for class discussion of the life course and the similarities of experiences between older adults and younger students. The use of the Tapestry in gerontology courses invites creative ways to encourage students' self-awareness and curiosity about life-span development.
