Abstract

The article considers the academic essay as the main simulator in teaching students of electrical engineering specialties academic writing. The importance of such skill in academic writing for students in view of international requirements and standards is emphasized. The place of academic essay in scientific discourse, features of its structure and text organization are determined. Particular attention is paid to the importance of task response criterion and consistent development of argumentation. The most common mistakes in writing an academic essay, both structural and logical errors, are analyzed.
