Abstract

Although there has been much discussion of active learning to engage and interest students in economics, lecture is still the prominent pedagogical approach in most economics classes. This paper proposes the use of reading guides as an alternate method of delivering content so as to allow more time for active learning. Specifically, it will describe how reading guides are used, discuss the benefits of using them, present useful tips for using reading guides, and lastly present results from student surveys.
