Abstract

Java provides most of the primitive functions necessary for implementing advanced graphics algorithms. Being a language that is highly portable and concurrent, Java also has all the capabilities of a powerful general purpose programming language suitable for a wide range of graphics applications. This paper addresses the main issues pertaining to teaching theoretical computer graphics courses, using Java as the language for implementation and project development. The paper also gives a framework of Java classes that can cater to the modeling of three-dimensional objects, transformations, and rendering algorithms.
