Abstract

This article identifies two ways in which a component on classical liberalism can be incorporated into an undergraduate sociological theory course. Liberalism is worthy of study in its own right, but I demonstrate how an understanding of this tradition illuminates the views of Durkheim, Marx, and Weber. In the conclusions I describe a simple technique for incorporating original texts into an undergraduate theory course.
