Abstract

Teaching aptitude and attitude are considered to be important parameters of the effectiveness of a teacher. Anxiety has proved to be a hindrance in general performance of the person. The present research is designed to study the level of teaching aptitude, attitude and anxiety in male and female M.Ed. students. A sample of 296 M.Ed. students from the department and colleges of Education affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad was selected randomly for the study. The sample had 169 female and 127 male M.Ed. students. Standardised test were used for assessment of teaching aptitude, teaching attitude and anxiety in M.Ed. students. Teaching aptitude and attitude was found to be of average level but anxiety level was high. It was found that there was no significant difference in the teaching aptitude and attitude of male and female M.Ed. students. There was significant difference in the level of anxiety of male and female M.Ed. students. Male M.Ed. students had higher level of anxiety as compared to female students. The study recommended that as high anxiety hampers the teacher effectiveness, more research should be carried out in this area and measures should be taken to lower the level of anxiety in the M.Ed. students.
