Abstract

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” – Albert EinsteinThe Information Technology (IT) Change Management process exists to help control the life cycle of strategic, tactical, and operational changes to IT services through standardized procedures. The goal of Change Management is to control risk and minimize disruption to associated IT services and business operations.Georgia Institute of Technology introduced IT Change Management in 2017. This paper and subsequent presentation will briefly describe and define change management and how it fits into the ITSM model. It will then discuss Georgia Tech's process, as well as how we managed adoption. Finally, we will summarize the first year of data, and share our successes and our lessons learned.This document and presentation endeavor to present a clearer understanding of IT change management, how it can work in a higher education setting and how a large research institution traversed adoption of change management.
