Abstract

In 1932, twelve geophysicists graduated the Department of Geophysics of the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute. Most of them became nationally-recognized geophysicists and explorers. Aizik Shapiro could be one of them. He began teaching at the age of 15, taught refresher courses, as well as the courses on mine surveying and geophysical prospecting at the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute and at Kazakhstan institutes while still a student. In the early days of the Great Patriotic War he defended his dissertation. However, Aizik Shapiro was sent to the battlefront and died on the battlefield in 1943.
