Abstract

This paper compares the two time division multiple access (TDMA)-based North American personal communications services (PCS) systems (DAMPS-1900 and PCS-1900) by examining their logical channel structure, framing, modulation schemes, speech and channel coding, and system capacity. The contents of the paper should be helpful to PCS network planners and designers in choosing a TDMA system for their networks.
