Abstract

The performance of Rotate/Rotate-type CT scanners (Toshiba CT scanners TCT-80A) was evaluated based on the items of user's initial acceptance tests (Phase II), in"Standard of performance evaluation for X-ray computed tomography (first recommendation)"proposed by Dr. E. Takenaka et al. in 1979. In this report (Part 1), the results of the measurements of noise, contrast scale, spatial resolution and high contrast resolution are described. The system employs the shift mechanism (direct magnification scheme in order to utilize detectors effectively all the time for various sizes of objects. In scan field S (240 mm dia), noise, contrast scale, spatial resolution and high contrast resolution were 0.41%, 1.8×10^<-4>cm^<-1>/CT, 7.1 lp/cm and 0.75 mm, respectively.
