Abstract

The hypothesis of rational economic man -- utility maximizers -- is incorrect because it cannot explain some common sense, such as jealousy, bad news spreads far and wide, good news never goes beyond the gate. To study we humans, the correct hypothesis is here: everybody has the motivation to be number one among his or her acquaintances in every important variable (including income, consumption, power, reputation, educational qualifications, intelligence, face appearance, the number of children, and children's education). This motivation drives all the four basic types of human social behavior: selfishness, cooperation, altruism and spite; popularly speaking, this motivation drives all human social behavior. Therefore, it is this motivation that drives humans to evolve; namely, this motivation is exactly the driving force to human evolution. Indeed, this motivation is exactly the truth for which we have been searching for more than 2000 years. In this paper, we construct a basic model for the study of microeconomics, sociology, political science, anthropology, etc.
