Taxonomy of the carinaless group of Lasioglossum (Evylaeus) (Hymenoptera, Halictidae) from the Ryukyu Islands, Japan, with description of seven new species

Abstract

Seven new species of the carinaless group of Lasioglossum (Evylaeus) are described from the Ryukyu Islands, Japan: Lasioglossum (Evylaeus) canaliculatum Murao sp. nov., and L. (E.) urumaense Murao sp. nov. from the central Ryukyus; L. (E.) bicornutum Murao sp. nov., L. (E.) donanense Murao sp. nov., L. (E.) latifacies Murao sp. nov., L. (E.) silvicolum Murao sp. nov., and L. (E.) yonaguniense Murao sp. nov. from the southern Ryukyus. Both L. (E.) amamiense Ebmer & Sakagami and L. (E.) zipangu Ebmer & Sakagami are redescribed, including the first descriptions of their males. An identification key to the carinaless Evylaeus species occurring in the central and southern Ryukyus is provided, as well as data on the geographical distribution, flight, and flower records of each species.
