Abstract

Some internal structures of the female insemination apparatus are useful for separating nine species of Dendrolaelaps Halbert, 1915, associated with bark beetles attacking pines in southeastern United States. Depending on the species, the insemination foramina open through the coxa, trochanter, or femur of leg III, or coxa of leg IV. The insemination apparatus of Dendrolaelaps appears similar to the type in females in Macrochelidae, one of two types recognized in the superfamily Parasitoidea. It is partially discernible in many but not all species of Dendrolaelaps.
