Abstract
Oritrophium (Kunth) Cuatrec. is a neotropical genus with a disjunct distribution in the Andes (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela), the center of Mexico, and the mountains of the Guiana Shield in Venezuela, with a remarkable diversity in Ecuador. We present a taxonomic study for Ecuador that represents the first modern and exhaustive revision of this genus in this country. We recognize eight species and four subespecies. We provide a dichotomous key, descriptions, synonyms, morphological and nomenclatural notes, distribution maps, and photographs of living plants. Three names are lectotypified and two names are neotypified.

Summary
La presente revisión taxonómica se ha basado en el estudio de 489 especímenes depositados en HA, HUTPL, LOJA, QCA, QCNE (acrónimos sensu Thiers, 2019). Adicionalmente, se han estudiado especímenes digitalizados de los herbarios AAU, F, K, P y US, y se ha realizado un intenso trabajo de campo. 75%, y entre paréntesis los valores de los percentiles 10% y 90% (a excepción de las especies con escaso material). Los mapas de distribución se han realizado con el programa R Core Team (2019) a través de la información contenida en las etiquetas de herbario (Fig. 1). En el apéndice 1 se han listado todos los especímenes estudiados, ordenados por orden alfabético de recolector, seguido del número de recolección. En el apéndice 2 se han incluido los diagramas de caja para aquellos caracteres cuantitativos con valor taxonómico; únicamente se han mostrado los resultados para aquellas especies en donde el número de especímenes disponibles para su medición ha sido mayor a cinco
