Abstract

The historical novel, which takes its subject from history and important figures in history, presents the background culture of events, the effect of time and space on events and characters in aesthetic language, rather than presenting a historical book to the reader in a uniform manner. For this reason, historical novels become an important tool in history learning. Although he was known for his academic identity, he also gave fictional works, Iskender Pala builds his novels on historical events and personalities. The writer, who gives historical events in a fiction according to their chronological order, tries to reflect the psychological situation of the characters in the face of the events. Many historical novels of the author, Shah and Sultan, Od, Legend: A Barbaros Novel have been published. Od, one of the author’s historical novels, is based on the life of a historical figure Yunus Emre. In the novel, while transferring the social, military, political and economic background of the period that Yunus experienced, the spiritual conflicts that Yunus experienced in the process of being “Bizim Yunus” are also included. In this study, Od novel of Iskender Pala will be examined in terms of structure and projective fiction, and the reflections of different aspects of historical personalities in the novel will be discussed in the light of the conditions of the period.
