Abstract

In this issue of Molecular Cell, Byun etal. (2020) find that the dual targeting of glutamine metabolism and the PD-L1 checkpoint inhibitor augments anti-tumor immunity. Mechanistically, decreased glutamine availability attenuated S-glutathionylation of SERCA, resulting in an increase in cytosolic calcium, enhanced NF-κB activity, and upregulation of programmed death-ligand 1.
