Abstract

The motion of ballistic missile interfered by many factors is complex in boost phase. If the ballistic model can’t be built correctly, it is very difficult to track the ballistic missile accurately. At the same time, the observation of ground-based radar has been influenced by the flicker noise, and many past improved algorithms from Kalman filter are poor to adapt the flicker noise. So in order to achieve stably tracking the ballistic target and better adaptability to the flicker noise, considering the characteristics of ballistic missile in boost phase, the jerk model and current statistical model are established, which are suitable for radar tracking. IMM-UKF-UPF tracking method is designed by combined Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) algorithm and Unscented Particle Filter (UPF) algorithm. From the simulation results, the proposed method can track target stably and have better adaptability to the flicker noise. With the moderate amount of computation, it is also a more practical tracking method to the ballistic target in boost phase.
