Abstract

This paper addresses the enhancement of maneuvering target, tracking for homing missiles by using a priori knowledge about the target inotion. Orthogonality between the target acceleration and velocity vector is assumed, and a new stochastic target, model is proposed where the orthogonality is embedded. Along with the new acceleration model, the orthogonality is also enforced by the addition of a fictitious auxiliary measurement. The modified gain extended Kalman filter(MGEKF) is used as a filtering technique to estimate the target states. The numerical simulation for the two-dimensional case indicates that the proposed target model with the MGEKF leads to remarkable estimation of the target states, and that, in comparison with the angle-only measurement case, the incorporation of fictitious measurement improves the estimation.
